linternez asked: i never seen such a 3D render on a comic drawing, seems like you form the clay instead of drawing into a flat surface and Rauch colors completely hits that side of your art. it's just a natural attitude or you pay attention on masses construction on the layout phase? almost all the artists try to give a real feeling instead of a "solid" feeling to their drawings, it's a rare...

farfartothewestofeverywhere asked: so how do you go about drawing space? i'm sure you'ved answered this before, but i missed it if someone did. I remember when I took art lessons as a kid we did watercolor and I would use dots of wax, then paint over it...but you can't do that with penciling or inking. Just curious. Loved the last issue, of course :)

INVINCIBLE 88 page 8 Pencil to ink!
Another page from issue 88, pencils to inks! Had fun re-designing Robot here, well not really re-design, just updated for space combat. In the script it said to have Robot subduing Mark, I thought instead of him just flying up and grabbing him that some electric looking power rope thingies that he’d fire at Mark and wrap around him would be cooler. I don’t think they should be called...

INV88 page 11 pencil to ink process.
INVINCIBLE 88 came out this week! Here’s a process page, I inked my own pencils for this issue. So here’s what my pencils look like before I throw inks on top. I ink with a Kuretake and/or Pentel brush pen. And some Staedtler pens, only sizes I use are 005, .01, and .03. Background stars are added in Photoshop, no I didn’t stipple out all those stars! That’d be a huge pain...
